Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao criticized the Congress government for deceiving minorities, failing to fulfill its promises and aligning with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Attending a meeting with minority leaders in connection with the by-election to the Jubilee Hills Assembly seat in Shamshabad here on Monday, he said the Congress had brought senior leaders to Telangana to announce its so-called minority manifesto and promise change. Two years ago, the Congress said it would allocate ₹4,000 crore annually for welfare of minorities and introduce a sub-plan for minorities, but both promises were broken.
He recalled that the BRS government led by K. Chandrasekhar Rao had introduced the Shaadi Mubarak scheme providing financial assistance of ₹ 1 lakh to poor brides. The Congress promised to offer more — 10 gm of gold in addition to the ₹ 1 lakh under the scheme, but to no avail.
Mr. Rama Rao said that Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao had established schools for minorities which enabled hundreds of students to become doctors and engineers and said that the BRS government in the past had also increased the number of medical colleges from four to thirty-four and introduced ₹20,000 scholarships for higher education abroad.
Mr. Rama Rao recalled that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy himself admitted that he studied in Modi’s school, went to Chandrababu’s college and now works under Rahul Gandhi. “Mr Rahul Gandhi says ‘Chowkidar chor hai’ while Mr Revanth Reddy calls Modi his elder brother. Rahul criticizes CBI and ED as Modi’s pocket agencies but Revanth hands over Kaleshwaram case to CBI,” he said.
He appealed to the minorities to come together and teach the Congress a lesson in the upcoming Jubilee Hills by-election, adding that BRS victory is certain and only the margin of victory remains to be decided.
