Congress MLA from Parigi, T. Ram Mohan Reddy, described Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) President KT Rama Rao’s recent meeting at Parigi as a total failure and exposed Mr. KTR’s inability to understand the mood and aspirations of the people.

Addressing a press conference at the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) office, he said that the KTR meeting could not attract even a modest gathering and claimed that the small function hall could not be filled. “What Mr. KTR said also reflected his ignorance of the ongoing developments,” he said.

He said the Congress government had removed environmental hurdles to speed up the construction of the Appa Junction-Manneguda four-lane road and secure approval for the ₹3,000 crore Navy project.

Referring to irrigation projects, Mr. Ram Mohan Reddy said that BRS had promised to provide irrigation to one million acres in each assembly constituency, but failed to carry out even basic works in Parigi. The previous BRS government had repeatedly promised to build the Lakshmidevipalli reservoir in Kondurg but failed to fulfill this assurance.

In contrast, he said, the present government has issued official orders to acquire land for the reservoir, with ₹600 crore allocated to acquire land for irrigation of 4.13 lakh acres.

The Congress MLA questioned why the previous government failed to set up a 100-bed hospital in Parigi despite promising super-specialty hospitals across the state. He said the Congress government is building a 100-bed hospital in the constituency and has also started handing over Indiramma houses, unlike the previous regime which did not build a single two-bedroom house in Parigi.

“The Congress government has been implementing development works worth nearly ₹ 50,000 crore in the Parigi region under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy,” he said.
