KTR requests funding for survey pledges in the budget

HYDERABAD

BRS Working President KT Rama Rao urged the state government to ensure allocation of adequate funds in the budget for the financial year 2026-27 for all programs promised under the six guarantees, 420 assurances and other declarations made during the 2023 assembly elections.

In an open letter to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Thursday, before the state government prepared to present the budget in the Assembly, Mr. Rao alleged that the Congress government had failed to fulfill nearly 95 per cent of its election promises despite being in power for nearly half of its term.

Claiming that people were losing patience with the government’s failure, Mr. Rama Rao warned that the state government would face public backlash if it did not make proper allocations, at least in the upcoming budget.

KTR said that although the Congress came to power and projected the six guarantees as transformative guarantees of welfare, not a single major promise has been fully realized in two years.

He accused the government of deceiving the public with political distractions and claimed that both the manifesto and the guarantee cards distributed by the Congress before the elections had now become “unsettled charge cards” (Baki cards) as no beneficiary groups had received the promised benefits.

KTR demanded substantial budgetary allocations for women, farmers, students, youth, auto drivers and vulnerable communities.

The former minister accused the Congress government of betraying farmers by not providing the promised input subsidy by increasing it to ₹15,000 per acre per year and repeatedly delaying Rythu Bandhu payments, which he said remained outstanding even after assurances made during the recent municipal elections.

He also criticized the lack of progress in fulfilling Congress promises to unemployed youth, including filling two thousand government vacancies, issuing a job calendar and providing a monthly unemployment allowance of ₹4,000.
