BRS working president KT Rama Rao questioned the credibility of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s claims about the Musi project and asked how he could announce an expenditure of ₹1.5 lakh crore when the detailed project report (DPR) would, as the government itself admits, take at least another year to prepare.
“If the DPR is not ready, how are such massive estimates being announced?” he asked, demanding an explanation why bulldozers were deployed to demolish the homes of the poor even before statutory planning and approvals were in place.
In a statement on Friday, he alleged that under the guise of Musi’s beautification, the Congress government was preparing for massive financial loot and handed over key aspects of the project to Mainhardt, a company allegedly blacklisted and facing Red Corner Notices. “How can a company with such a background be entrusted with a project of this magnitude?” he asked.
KTR further accused the chief minister of officially announcing plans to demolish the homes of over one million people living along the Musi and make them homeless. This, he said, revealed the true character of the Congress government.
