Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao accused the Revanth Reddy government of conspiring to deny the fruits of decentralized governance and development in the name of reorganizing districts and canceling some new districts created during the BRS government.
In a meeting with party leaders of Mahabubnagar and Nalgonda combined districts ahead of the upcoming urban local body elections here on Saturday, he asked the party ranks to adopt an action plan against the government’s plans to abolish some districts. He also asked them to explain to the people the delay caused by the Congress government in completing the Palamuru-Rangareddy irrigation scheme and denying Krishna water to the catchment areas.
For the ULB elections, he suggested that party leaders should have a specific strategy and action plan for each ULB based on local conditions with a focus on Mahabubnagar Municipal Corporation. At ULB Nalgonda, he said that the BRS government in the past has developed the area like never before. He said that the merged district now has two ministers but they have not done anything for development.
Senior party leader T. Harish Rao also made several suggestions to the leaders of the two merged districts.
He had earlier criticized the government for arresting party leaders for planning a peaceful rally demanding to keep Secunderabad’s identity intact. Former minister T. Srinivas Yadav said the police had initially permitted the peaceful rally, but on Friday night he sent a message to the Lashkar Sadhana Samithi to inform about the cancellation of the permission granted.
They would move the court to get permission for a peaceful assembly as it was a struggle to preserve Secunderabad’s identity.
