The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) will raise the issue of people identified as displaced under the Musi Riverfront project planned by the Congress government and pressurize the government against house demolitions, party working president KT Rama Rao said during a visit to some areas on Sunday.
Along with party leaders, he took out a protest march with residents and interacted with them in Hydershah Kot and KK Nagar areas, including Madhu Park Ridge Apartments.
Speaking to the residents of Rajiv Gruhakalpa, Mr. Rama Rao said that there is a need to put pressure on the government not to demolish even a single house and that this is possible through a joint struggle of the families likely to be displaced, their neighbors and others. He alleged that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy was running a “bulldozer paradise”.
He accused the government of resorting to real estate business by displacing people along the Musi and selling reclaimed land to real estate agencies in the name of a waterfront project. He asked them to wage a battle against the government to protect their homes for the next two years and the next BRS government will ensure that their homes are not touched.
He accused the Congress national leadership of keeping silent about ‘Bulldozer Raj’ in Telangana instead of funding provided by Mr. Revanth Reddy. The BRS leader said that the Congress government has exposed a big scam in the name of Musi Riverfront project to help relatives and followers get contracts to deal in real estate in reclaimed areas.
He pointed out that permission was given to Madhu Park Ridge by the previous Congress government. He also questioned why the government is keeping quiet about the lavish houses, villas and estates of Congress leaders in the buffer zones of water bodies.
