KTR accuses Congress, BJP of compromising Telangana’s self-respect
BRS working president KT Rama Rao objected to the behavior of BJP leaders in Telangana during Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit and alleged that their behavior compromised the self-respect of Telangana.
Mr. Rama Rao criticized BJP State President N. Ramchander Rao for allegedly touching Mr. Amit Shah’s feet and Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar for behaving like a vigilante in his presence.
“This reflected the humiliation of Telangana’s self-esteem before the Delhi leadership,” he charged. He also targeted Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, who alleged that he was mistreated by the party high command and it was nothing but an insult to Telangana.
He referred to an incident in which Congress president Priyanka Gandhi’s security personnel reportedly objected to Mr. Revanth Reddy trying to meet Mrs. Gandhi. “This reflected the importance the Telangana Chief Minister attaches in his own party,” he claimed.
This excessive pandering of both Congress and BJP leaders from Telangana to their party high commands has threatened the state’s self-respect. He alleged that the leaders of both the parties were more concerned about pleasing their national leadership than protecting the interests of Telangana. “Congress leaders carry the bags of their leadership in Delhi, while BJP leaders carry their shoes.”
Asked about Mr Shah’s visit to Hyderabad, KTR asked what the Union Home Minister brought to Telangana. He urged the BJP leadership to name even one major metro project, a national project or a premier educational institution sanctioned for the state. He claimed that Mr. Shah had returned without announcing any significant contribution to Telangana.
Similarly, Mr. Revanth Reddy was busy going around Delhi instead of securing funds, investment and development projects for Telangana, he alleged.
