In a major effort to sensitize the public against the growing menace of waste pollution, the Kerala Solid Waste Management Project (KSWMP) launched the ‘Clean Kerala Hymn’. Education Minister V. Sivankutty officially released the anthem and video at a ceremony held at Nishagandhi Auditorium here on Saturday (February 28, 2026).
“Clean Kerala Anthem” is considered to be the musical catalyst that will usher in a new culture of cleanliness across the state.
Designed to resonate with all age groups, especially the youth, the video combines high-energy dance sequences with modern hip-hop and rap beats. The anthem revolves around a powerful and evocative tagline: “My waste, my responsibility, my Kerala, my pride”.
The song aims to bring about a behavioral shift by emphasizing that littering in public spaces is a matter of social shame. Instead, he is championing a new ‘trend’ of modern Keralites: the systematic segregation of plastic and organic waste at source, followed by its swift handing over to the Haritha Karma Sena (Green Task Force).
The launch comes at a crucial time when the KSWMP is stepping up its efforts to build state-of-the-art waste treatment facilities and modern processing systems across Kerala. The anthem serves as a reminder that while the government provides the infrastructure, the ultimate success of these projects depends on the active participation of citizens through proper waste segregation at home, officials said.
The song for KSWMP was created by Bworld Corporate Solutions. To ensure maximum reach and public engagement, the anthem will be widely promoted through Instagram roles, YouTube short films and social media dance challenges. The track is also available for streaming on major music platforms, including Spotify. Through this creative initiative, the KSWMP and the state government are trying to make the dream of a ‘Waste Free Beautiful Kerala’ a collective reality.
