The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has announced the operation of 2,000 additional buses to handle increased passenger demand during the upcoming Ugadi and Id festivals.
According to the corporation, in addition to the existing timetables, special services will operate on March 18, 19 and 20 to facilitate the travel of festival travelers. Special return flights from various domestic and interstate destinations to Bengaluru will also be arranged on March 22 to accommodate passengers returning after the holidays.
Buses will depart from Kempe Gowda Bus Station to several key destinations including Dharmasthala, Kukke Subrahmanya, Shivamogga, Hassan, Mangaluru, Kundapur, Sringeri, Horanadu, Hubballi, Belagavi, Gokarna, Raichur, Kalaburagi, Ballari and Bidar and more. Services will also be operated to interstate destinations such as Tirupati, Vijayawada and Hyderabad.
In addition, special buses will operate from Mysuru Road Bus Station towards Mysuru, Hunsur, Periyapatna, Virajpet, Kushalnagar and Madikeri to serve passengers to Kodagu and surrounding areas.
The report said passengers can book tickets in advance through KSRTC’s computerized reservation system, reservation counters in Karnataka and neighboring states or online through the company’s website. KSRTC has also announced a 5% discount on fares for groups of four or more passengers booking together and a 10% discount on return tickets if both journeys are booked at the same time.
The company said that additional buses will also be deployed from taluk and district bus stands depending on passenger demand.
