KSEB plans to procure 300 MW for five years
The State Electricity Regulatory Commission has approved revisions to the bid-related framework to allow the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) to go ahead with the purchase of 300 MW over five years to meet the evening peak.
KSEB proposes to procure 300 MW of continuous (RTC) power to meet the electricity demand between 6:00 PM and midnight for the period from January 1, 2027 to December 31, 2031.
To make this possible, certain revisions in the bid evaluation methodology and bid documents had to be made and KSEB placed a proposal before the commission for approval. Holders of distribution licenses may deviate from the model tender documents only with the prior approval of the commission.
The KSEB said its proposed revisions promote “transparency, competitive neutrality and proper pricing and consumer interest” and are therefore necessary for the successful completion of the tender process.
