Krishna District Collector DK Balaji visited Manginapudi Beach and Challapalli on Sunday to review preparedness measures in view of cyclonic storm Montha.
Emphasizing that a cyclone is very different from a flood, the Collector said, while floods mainly affect the Krishna river basin and low-lying villages, a cyclone affects the entire district. He warned that heavy rainfall and strong winds are expected.
At Manginapudi beach, he directed police officials not to allow any visitors and later advised fishermen to stay away from the sea during the cyclone.
He ordered that cyclone warnings should be announced widely in all villages and people should be informed. He further instructed officials to ensure proper maintenance of mobile towers by keeping backup power sources, generators and diesel reserves ready.
On Sunday evening, the District Collector inspected BSNL and Jio towers at Ramanagaram and Challapalli of Challapalli mandal. He later held a meeting with officials at Challapalli tahsildar’s office to discuss the maintenance and readiness of mobile towers in the division.
