Kozhikode recorded a poll percentage of 77.24 as the second phase of local polls in the state drew to a close in the district on Thursday.
According to official sources, a total of 20,72,137 of the total 26,82,682 voters exercised their right to vote. As many as 9,52,063 male voters and 11,20,065 female voters and nine transgender voters participated in the election process.
The polls reported in Kozhikode Corporation was 69.55%. Among the municipalities, Ramanattukara recorded the highest voting percentage of 81.39. The lowest was 76.53% in the village of Payyoli.
The figure for Koyilandy is 77.8%, Vadakara 77.27%, Feroke 77.08%, Koduvally 77.11% and Mukkom 79.29%. The voter turnout in Kozhikode district panchayat was 79.06%. Among the block panchayats, Perambra recorded the highest 81.46%.

Elections were held in 91 local bodies – Kozhikode Corporation, seven municipalities, 70 grama panchayats, 12 block panchayats and a district panchayat. A total of 3,097 polling stations were established in the district.
In the 2020 polls, the district recorded a voter turnout of 79.2%, while it was 77.64% in the 2015 polls and 77.07% in the 2010 polls.

Voting began briskly at 7 am in the constituency. Within an hour, 4.26% of voters exercised their right to vote. Technical problems related to electronic voting machines not working were reported in the early hours in Thiruvambady and Karassery grama panchayats. Election officials said such issues were resolved without wasting time. By noon, the voting percentage had increased to 40.92%. With barely two hours left until the end of 4:00 PM, the voter turnout reached 66.63%. Although early trends indicated that the percentage of polling stations may be higher than in previous years, the number stabilized during the day.

Counting of votes will take place in 20 centers on Saturday. Postal tickets will be counted first, followed by votes cast in electronic voting machines.
