Kozhikode Mayor O. Sadasivan on Thursday (January 22, 2026) emphasized the need for more open spaces in the city. He inaugurated a seminar titled “Urbanization: Challenges and Opportunities in the Kozhikode Context” organized by the Kerala Sasthra Sahitya Parishad ahead of its district conference.
PP Anil Kumar, Chairman, Center of Excellence in Urban Planning and Design, National Institute of Technology Calicut, highlighted the link between population growth and waste accumulation in urban centres. He also said that city life would be more comfortable if road traffic was better managed. On this occasion, a book was published on the complications arising from the construction of national highways.
