The District Congress Committee of Kozhikode (DCC) was looking for a lawsuit against the police staff, which allegedly attacked Shafi Parambil, Vadakar MP, with “Latchis” in the pernas recently, and representatives of police (Dysps) in Vadakar and Perambra, who “directed” them.
President DCC K. Poeenkumar, who addressed the media here on Sunday (12th October 2025), said he filed a complaint with the chief police boss who emphasized these requirements. “To Baij, the head of the district police (Kozhikode rural) should also be warned. If he does not apply any steps in the next five six days, we will be forced to start agitation outside the Mr. Baiju residence,” he added.
Meanwhile, Mr. Baiju said during a private event in Vadakar that some police staff “intentionally tried to cause problems” in the perennial. He claimed that the Congress MEP was hit from the back using “lathis” and that artificial intelligence tools would be used to identify them. Mr. Baiju, however, repeated his earlier assertion that there was no “no lathi against the activists of the united democratic front (UDF) on the day. “There is a string of command to initiate the lathi accusation. Nothing like this has happened there,” he added.
Mr. Baiju had previously claimed that Mr. Paramtil could have been injured when the police thrown a grenade to facilitate the situation and that the deputy was not affected by the ‘lathis’. The videos subsequently published by the media showed him badly.
Mr. Poeenkumar claimed that Mr. Paramtil was hit twice on his nose and once on his head during an incident in the orambra 10 October. Then the street lighting on the area came on and the police staff disappeared into the darkness. The attack on the deputy happened after the UDF workers and the left democratic front (LDF) came face to face while they chose separate protest processes. It was the fall of the conflict between the Indian Federation of Students and Union Kerala Student Sond over the Union elections on the CKG Memorial Government College, Perambra and the subsequent “Hartal” called the alleged violence of CPI (M).
On the claim of LDF leaders that Mr. Paramtil was responsible for inciting violence, he said that CPI (m) acted as a mouthpiece. Congress’s leader said the march of the settled UDF had a large number of participants, while the one who was eliminated LDF had fewer participants. “The police accompanied the LDF march while we were stopped on the way. We tried to calm down the workers when the police attacked Mr. Paramtil. Grenade was thrown at us, although the official procedure that was used was not followed,” said Mr. Poeenkumar.
