The District Congress Committee of Kozhikode (DCC) was looking for a court probe into alleged sinks and contractual violations in the construction of a national highway in the district.
President DCC K. Poeenkumar on Saturday, May 24, told the media that the company owned by Gautam Adani, which won a contract to expand 40.8 km section of the National Highway from Azhiyur to Vengalm for 1,838.1 Crore, was subjected to another company for 1,8388.1. Congress’s leader claimed that the company owned by Adani had carried out Adani through the Crore 900 agreement.
He claimed that the national development of motorways became a platform for generating profits for the Adani group. People were afraid to travel on newly built roads. The one built near Kunniyoramala in Koyilanda was on the verge of collapse. On the road in Thiruvangoor and Vengalam, cracks were recorded.
Mr. Poeenkumar claimed that the development of roads became a symbol of corruption and prey. He demanded that cases be registered against suppliers for outages. Congress would protest outside the local authority of the National Motorway Office of India (Nhai) at 10 am 28th. May to support this demand.
Meanwhile, Mr. Poeenkumar said that his party would join the High Court in Kerala against the alleged unscientific definition of local authorities in the district. He said that tea shops were marked as the boundaries of some departments, avoiding the natural boundaries. Some other departments were merged in contradiction with the law of Panchayati Raj. It was obvious in places like Vanimel, Nadapuram, Maniyoor and Thurayoor, he added.
