Kollam collectate goes digital with video calling interface for public grievances

Kollam residents no longer have to waste time commuting to the collection point just to file a complaint or share their problem. As part of the newly launched ‘Meet the Collector’, citizens can now talk to the Collector directly through video calls using the ‘Nammude Keralam’ mobile app.

To access the service, users can simply open the app, go to the “Meet an Officer” feature and request a video interaction. The digital setup aims to remove the physical distance between top county administrators and the public, allowing residents to raise pressing local issues from the comfort of their homes.

The initiative is built to go beyond just listening to complaints, but also promotes accountability. A dedicated monitoring mechanism tracks every request sent through the application to ensure that action is taken without undue delay. Residents can even log in to check the status of their claim in real time, including which officer is handling the case and what action has been taken so far.

Using modern technologies, the initiative helps speed up public services and monitor administrative actions. The project is expected to build more trust and make local governance more transparent and accessible to all.
