Calcata News: During the tragic incident, a third -year student from the English department at the Jadavpur University (JU) was announced dead after being transported to the nearby hospital unconscious, the head of the university clerk said.
The student was found unconscious near the campus on Thursday evening around 22:30, during the cultural festival organized by students.
According to the university clerk, she talked to classmates near the water unit before the incident. Precise circumstances remain unclear.
“Security staff and some students got it out of the water. She was unconscious. The student was rushed to a local private medical college and hospital where dead was announced on arrival,” Hindustan Times quoted one of the employees who asked for anonymity.
The hospital official confirmed: “We informed the local police station Jadavpur after the rules. In this case, the compulsory test is a postmort.”
Police sent her body to postmort and launched an investigation.
The deceased’s classmates refused to talk to the media.
The university did not publish the student’s identity.
According to a TV9 Bangl report, some students of the students claimed that they tried to die by suicide and consumed a large number of sleeping pills before it was found near the lake.
Trinamool Chhatra Parisad (TMCP), a student wing of the ruling Congress of Trinamool, asked why the authorities allowed the cultural action to continue late into the night and demanded the CCTV shots.
This tragedy comes two years after the death of the first year of Bengal Student at the Jadavpur University, who fell from the hostel of the balcony, allegedly after ragging seniors. The incident triggered a stir and led to the arrest of several students.

Meanwhile, a ten -year -old boy died of a heart attack last week in the village of Kodoli in the district of Kolhapur, Maharashtra.
The boy, identified as Shravan Gavade, played with his friends in Ganesh Pandal when he began to feel uncomfortable. According to media news, he returned home and lay where he suffered cardiac arrest and died.
