The third day of the nine-day annual Brahmotsavam at the Sri Kodandarama Swamy Temple saw Lord Rama majestically seated on a lion and under a pearl-studded canopy during the Simha Vahanam and Muthyapu Pandiri Vahanam processions conducted in the morning and evening.
The temple was thronged with devotees thronging to watch the Simha Vahanam procession. Later, a ‘Snapana Tirumanjanam’ was performed in which the idols of Rama, Sita and Lakshmana were given heavenly ablutions with milk, curd, honey, coconut water, turmeric and sandalwood.
As the pearls in the Muthyapu Pandiri shimmered in a grey-white hue under the spotlights, devotees chanted “Góvinda Govinda” as the procession passed through the four Mada streets surrounding the temple.
