The 28th Kochi International Book Festival began at the Ernakulathappan grounds here on Saturday.
Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel lit the lamp to mark the beginning of the festival. West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose received “Malayalaratnam Puraskaram” from her. She also published 14 of his works by handing over copies to Mayor M. Anilkumar, according to the report.

MJ Akbar, writer and former Union Minister, inaugurated the art and cultural programs organized as part of the festival. The message of the festival was delivered by writer KL Mohana Varma. Mr. Bose inaugurated the program commemorating the birth centenary of poet Akkitham, a report said.
