Kochi was included in the project of proceedings of the flood risks of the National Authority for Disaster Management (NDMA), said the mayor M. Anilkumar.
Climate change and unpredictable monsoon patterns caused heavy rain and floods. The current Steering Committee was able to very effectively administer the mechanism of alleviating the flood in the city. The Committee has applied for more funds from NDMA for projects, including the implementation of the main plan of the drainage plan, he said.
“In accordance with our request, the help of CRORE 222 GBP was sanctioned, of which the center will be provided by 200 Crore and standing 22 crore,” said Mr. Anilkumar. Kochi Corporation was asked to present a detailed report on the project on the basis of which the center would assign.
NDMA under the Ministry of the Interior approved the amount in connection with the climate change, said the mayor.
