The Kochi Corporation, which owns and manages the badly affected Sahodaran Ayyappan (SA) road, is awaiting funds from the state government to rehabilitate the corridor close to the Kerala High Court ordering the concerned agencies to take immediate steps to identify, level and permanently repair all surface protrusions and uneven parts around metro poles in the city.
Similar problems persist in many areas under the metro corridor, the Public Works Department (PWD)-owned Edappally-MG Road stretch, where restoration work has been carried out at several places, and the Vyttila-Thripunithura stretch.
Mayor VK Minimol said the cash-strapped corporation is unable to mobilize around ₹14 crore needed to resurface and restore the four-lane road. “It is difficult to get even half the amount. In this situation, we will turn to the new government to get the funds,” she said.
