Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has firmly dismissed speculation linking him with a move to Real Madrid, calling the reports “nonsense” while reiterating that he has had no contact with the Spanish giants.
Klopp, who retired from coaching in 2024citing exhaustion after a long spell at Liverpool, he currently serves as head of global football for Red Bull GmbH, overseeing a network of clubs including RB Leipzig, Red Bull Salzburg and the New York Red Bulls. Despite his move into an executive role, the German tactician continues to be the subject of constant rumors of a return to the dugout.

At a press conference in Ismaning, the 58-year-old categorically denied any approach from Real Madrid. He didn’t mince his words when dealing with speculation.
“That was written by the same idiots. It’s all just nonsense. They didn’t call me once, not once. And they didn’t call my agent either,” Klopp said.
He reiterated the point in the TV notes, adding: “It’s all just nonsense. They didn’t call once, not once. And my agent is over there – you can ask him too, they didn’t call him either.”
Klopp was speaking during a TV pundit event ahead of the upcoming FIFA World Cup, where he also addressed questions about his future in management. While he made it clear that he is not currently actively considering a return, he stopped short of ruling it out entirely.
“I’m certainly mature enough for life at my age, but I’m not completely and utterly done as a coach. I haven’t reached retirement age yet,” he said. “Who knows what will happen in the next few years. But nothing is planned in that regard.”
Klopp also rejected suggestions that he could take charge of the German national team if Julian Nagelsmann steps down after the World Cup. He supported the current setup and insisted he was not considering such a move.
“Obviously I’m not thinking about it at all at the moment and thankfully there’s no reason to,” he said.
Despite stepping away from the day-to-day concerns of club management, Klopp’s stature in world football ensures that speculation about his next move remains constant. For now, however, he appears content in his executive role, with Red Bull recently expressing strong satisfaction with his work amid reports questioning progress within its football network.
