This comes as a big blow for the 2024 champions who are already missing Harshit Rana and Matheesha Pathirana in the attack. While Pathirana is expected to recover from a calf strain within a few games, Harshit seems unlikely to feature this season.
KKR have held trials for several pacers as Harshit’s replacement but are yet to confirm the signing.
However, the franchise quickly moved to replace Akash Deep and named Saurabh Dubey in the team. The left-arm pacer joins KKR for Rs 30 crore.
Meanwhile, Sunrisers Hyderabad – another team dealing with fast bowling injuries – announced a replacement for their all-rounder Jack Edwards. Englishman David Payne was signed as his replacement for this season.
Payne played one ODI for England and appeared in 233 T20 matches, taking 304 wickets. He will join SRH for Rs 1.5 crore.
