Kolkata Knight Riders fans erupted in anger after team mentor Dwayne Bravo was spotted at a Chennai Super Kings fan event. This comes at a time when his own franchise is battling a mounting injury crisis ahead of the new IPL season.

The timing couldn’t have been worse for KKR. With several key players sidelined prior to the start of the season, fans expected theirs support staff to fully concentrate on managing the fitness of the squad and bowling equipment. Instead, Bravo’s presence at the rival team’s celebration left the KKR fan base deeply frustrated. In the evening, former ČSK stars and current aa players performed live performance by AR Rahman.
The injury list includes their leading pacer, Harshit Rana who is expected to be ruled out for most of the season. In addition, there have been reports regarding Akash Deep availability for the season while Matheesha Pathirana is yet to receive a No-Objection Certificate from the Sri Lanka Cricket Board.
Head coach Abhishek Nayar said they are considering their options but are yet to make an official decision. Furthermore, he also highlighted that Pathirana is expected to be available from mid-April onwards.
Reactions to X were sharp. One user wrote that Bravo was kidnapped from KKR while another referred to him as a CSK spy in the KKR camp. A third user picked up on the wider concern among supporters, noting that KKR were already short of players and now also without a mentor figure.
The frustration of some fans has gone beyond humor. One user X directly reached out to CSK and urged the franchise to sign Bravo permanently. The user wrote that Bravo does not add any value to KKR and only brings embarrassment. It reflected a deeper discontent among a section of KKR supporters who feel the bowling coach’s loyalty to his former franchise.
Not all reactions were negative. Several ČSK fans welcomed the sight of Bravo at the event. One supporter wrote that champions never leave the den and that seeing Bravo back in yellow is only right, signing off on the franchise’s favorite catchphrase “Whistle Pod.”
Bravo spent several successful seasons with CSK as a player before joining the KKR support team ahead of this campaign. His appearance at a rival event raised uncomfortable questions about divided loyalties. With KKR’s injury concerns already the talk of the town, fans are in no mood to let the matter pass in peace.
