If Kolkata Knight Riders recruit Cameron Green and he does not play in the Indian Premier League, the franchise should at least be entitled to a refund, an angry Aakash Chopra said after the team’s match against Mumbai Indians.
KKR all-rounder Green didn’t bowl a single ball on Sunday, which affected the team’s mix against Mumbai Indians. Despite scoring 220 runs at the Wankhede Stadium, KKR lost the game completely, with the hosts completing the chase with five wickets to spare.

MI vs KKR, IPL 2026: UPDATE | SCORECARD
MI openers Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton added 148 runs in less than 12 overs to take the game away from KKR. It was confusing from the visitors’ point of view that their most expensive overseas signing in the history of the league – Cameron Green – did not get a single goal.
KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane responded to the same in frustration after the match, stating that such questions should be directed at Cricket Australia and hinted that the management did not want their asset to miss out, at least for now.
Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra hit out at Green and Cricket Australia, saying it was wrong that the franchise paid for an all-rounder and got nothing but dough in return.
“If you pay for an all-rounder and get a batsman in return, you should at least be entitled to a refund,” Chopra wrote on X during KKR’s match against MI.
GREEN REGISTERED AS DOUGH IN IPL AUCTION
It is also worth noting that during the IPL 2026 auction, Cameron Green was registered as a batter specialist instead of an all-rounder. With concerns about the player’s fitness on social media, Green clarified that it was an administrative error by his manager and that he was eligible in the IPL, leading to a record bid for the overseas star.
Green not bowling is an ominous sign for KKR who are already depleted of bowling reserves due to injuries to Harshit Rana and Matheesha Pathirana, two key players in their team. On Sunday, every KKR player, including Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy, took more than 10 runs per over, making it a terrible performance for the 2024 champions.
