King Abdullah II of Jordan warned that the Middle East was convicted unless there was a peace process leading to a Palestinian state.
Abdullah made these remarks in an exclusive BBC Panorama interview, before participating in the Peace Summit in Gaza, Egypt Sharm El-Sheikh on Monday.

“If we do not solve this problem. If we do not find the future for Israelis and Palestinians and the relationship between the Arab and Muslim worlds and Israel, we are sentenced to convict,” said King Abdullah BBC
The summit, which was attended by about 27 global leaders, took place on the day Hamas released the last living hostage, which took place in Gaza in exchange for Palestinian prisoners and detained Israel.
King Jordon spoke of former unsuccessful peace attempts in an interview of the BBC. He said that the implementation of the solution of two states – creating an independent Palestinian state on the West Bank and Gaza together with Israel – was the only answer.
“I hope we can move things back, but with a political horizon, because if we don’t solve this problem, we’ll be again,” the king said.
What is the solution of two states?
The solution of two countries is a proposed approach to resolving the Israeli and Palestinian conflict by creating two states in the territory of the former compulsory Palestine.
Last month, the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres reaffirmed the body’s attitude that “statehood for Palestinians is a law, not a reward”.
“The solution of two states is the only credible way to a fair and lasting peace between Israelis and Palestinians and a wider level and security in the Middle East,” Guterres said in post X.

The remarks of the Guterrese came the day after the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia officially recognized Palestine as the state of 21 September. This step is considered to be a significant shift in the foreign policy of these nations and a step away from their harmonization with the United States, which leaned towards Israel under the rule of Donald Trump.
Palestine is currently recognized by about 75 % of the 193 UN Member States. In the UN, Palestine has the status of a “permanent observation state”, which allows participation but no voting rights.
The Israeli government led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu refused to solve two states.
What happened in Sharm El-Sheikh?
Donald Trump and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi will be hosted by Summit Sharm El Sheikh on Monday after the US President first visited Israel to speak in Knessy and meet the hostage families.
In his speech in Sharm El-Sheikh Trump, he called on the new era of harmony in the Middle East and urged the country to sign Abraham’s agreements and seek to develop a wider peace in the region, after his visit to Israel to celebrate the American-mediated ceasefire with Hamas.
What are Abraham’s agreements?
“We have a chance to give us old disputes and bitter hate once in our lives,” Trump said, calling for the leaders to “declare that our future will not be a struggle for the past of the generation.”
If we do not solve this problem … we are convicted.
Abraham agreements are a number of American agreements that normalize diplomatic relations between Israel and several Arab and Muslim nations. Initial agreements were signed in 2020 Israel, United Arab Emirates (SAE) and Bahrain
The solution of two states is the only credible way to just and permanent peace.
