After more than 50 years of education and the pleasure of generations of children, Sesame will go into the main new chapter. The beloved educational series is heading to Netflix at the end of this year with the reimaginated 56 season and presents updated narrative formats and fresh interactive segments. What is new in the 56 season?
The 56 Sesame Street season brings bold format changes and at the same time remains true to its main mission of playful early learning. The season will be released in three doses and includes:
One 11 -minute story for an episode that allows a deeper, character -controlled story and humor.
- Cookie Monster’s Cookie Cart, where the Cookie Monster runs its own stand on the side on the street.
- Abby’s Fairy Garden, representing magical creatures and capricious surprises.
- Stories of 123, a new animated segment set in the famous apartment building of Sesame Street.
- Favorite fans are returning, including Elmo’s World and Cookie Monster’s Foodie Truck.
- Improved visual effects, with animation overlaps, magical sparks, confetti and bubbles that enrich scenes.
- Direct moments to the camera where the characters speak directly to the audience about the absorbing experience.
Dual release: Netflix and PBS
While Netflix has exclusive rights to the global premiere, new episodes will also be broadcast on the same day at PBS stations and PBS Kids digital platforms in the US and ensure continued free access to families across the country. A total of 90 hours of classic episodes of Sesame Street will also be available for streaming on Netflix along with the new season.
Behind the scenes: creative talent
Season 56 is produced by Sesame Workshop, a non -profit organization for a permanent educational mission of the show. Executive producers Sal Perez and Kay Wilson Stallings are returning, and Halcyon Person joins as the main writer. The person is a seasoned writer, director and producer, known for Karma’s World and Dee & Friends in Oz, and received nominations from Emmys, Naacp and Humanitas.
