
The opening of the Biodiversity Study Center is set to make Kidoor in Kumbla grama panchayat a major attraction for bird watchers and nature lovers.
Developed as part of the Kumbla Rural Tourism Project under the Kasaragod Development Package, the facility was inaugurated by Manjeswaram MLA AKM Ashraf.
Vice President Abdul Khader, Kumbla panchayat president presided over the function. MA Naseeb, Deputy Director Tourism presented the project report.
Kidoor is considered as the bird village of Kerala, hosting more than 170 species of birds, including about 38 migratory species. The area is known for the iconic Green Pigeon in addition to a variety of shore and wetland birds, making it an important destination for researchers and bird lovers.
As part of the project, a modern dormitory for 40 visitors with separate rooms for men and women, a meeting hall and a kitchen was built to support researchers, tourists and nature lovers.
The Arikady Walkway, completed under the same project, was also inaugurated. The construction work was done by the District Nirmithi Kendra.
