
Indian shutter Kidambi Sikanth attacked the final of the first men’s singles at the BWF event in six years with a direct victory over the Japanese Yushi Tanaka in Malaysia Masters Super 500 badminton tournament here on Saturday.
The 32-year-old, silver medalist of the World Championship 2023, ran a superlative game that showed the flashes of his vintage with a sharp play and attack on Flair on 23. Tanaka 21-18 24-22.
This is the first final performance of Sricant on the world tour BWF since the Runner-up at the India Open 2019 ended. He last won four titles in 2017.
Former world number one, Sricant, who fell to world number 65, has lived a rough patch in the last few seasons due to form and fitness.
