Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Sunday criticized Heavy Industries and Steel Minister HD Kumaraswamy for criticizing the conversion of B-Khata properties into A-Khata.
He called Mr Kumaraswamy’s criticism “baseless and empty rhetoric”.
On Saturday, Mr Kumaraswamy described the conversion scheme as “daylight robbery” and an attempt to fill empty government coffers. He further claimed that the system was “bogus”.
Mr. Shivakumar said that Mr. Kumaraswamy’s criticism of the conversion scheme was completely baseless, calling it a “khali trunk” (empty trunk).
When asked about Mr. Kumaraswamy’s claim that his government would have reduced Khata fees but the current administration was looting money, Mr. Shivakumar said, “If we are looting, let him (Mr. Kumaraswamy) come and take it from our pockets.”
“Mr Kumaraswamy is not educated. He lacks basic common sense. He does not even understand what A-Khata and B-Khata is. I did not introduce B-Khata. BJP did,” said Mr Shivakumar.
The Deputy Chief Minister added that he had invited Mr. Kumaraswamy for a debate on the issue but he never turned up. “Look, now he has even started asking my officials what is A-Khata and B-Khata,” remarked Mr. Shivakumar.
“He dreams something, but I dreamed bigger. He dreamed and got 18 seats, while I got 136. Further, he could go down to eight and I will reach 150,” said Mr. Shivakumar.
