The Minister of Forest, the Environment and Ecology and the Bidar district on Wednesday in charge of Eshwar B. Khandre emphasized the strong role that the media plays in amplifying people’s voice and holding institutions responsible.
He spoke in office to start a one -day workshop for journalists in the field of Kalyan Karnatak organized by Media Academy Karnataka in cooperation with the Ministry of Information and Public Relations in the Guru Nanak Bhavan at the GND College Campus in Bidar.
“The media have the power to bear the voice of people and focus on the achievements and shortcomings of the legislature, executive and judiciary. It is the duty of the media to praise progressive steps and criticism will disappear with the same integrity,” Khandre said.
The Minister in the commentary on the role of media in democracy said that the media is the fourth pillar of public administration and must work with integrity and responsibility.
“The pen is sharper than the sword. It should be wisely dominated,” he said, encouraging journalists to watch the facts, remain informed through regular studies and adherence to accuracy and credibility in reporting.
Mr. Khandre also expressed support for the establishment of a media educational center in Bidar, offered him land and emphasized the importance of skills for journalists, especially those in rural areas.
In her introductory notes, President of Media Academy Ayesha Khanam caused Bidar’s rich cultural heritage and recorded the importance of the region’s leadership in the development of the state.
“This workshop is intended to inspire journalists to grow to modern challenges. In this era of technological development, rural journalists often reveal the most authentic stories. It is necessary to train and equip them,” she said.
“False news is a growing threat. Crossing the facts must become a culture in journalism,” she stressed.
She added that journalism is not just about writing columns, but it is a form of leadership that requires constant reflection, self -preparing and commitment to truth.
Representative of the Commissioner Shilpa Sharma spoke of values that must support journalism.
“The media have a great responsibility in democracy. The report must be based on facts, impartial and rooted in social interest. Although negativity may be easier to emphasize, we must try to report truthfully and holistically,” she said, thanking the press for his constructive contribution.
More than 200 journalists from the districts of Bidar, Kalaburagi, Yadgir, Raichur, Koppal, Bales and Vijayanagara participated in the seminar.
The effort to affore afforestation
Meanwhile, he called on the public to protect the environment, Mr. Khandre emphasized the efforts to affore the state to solve air pollution.
“Oxygen is our life rope. During the COVID-19 crisis, thousands have died due to its lack. To ensure the future generation faces such a crisis, Karnataka has previously planted 15 crore seedlings.
He called on citizens to join the hand in the production of a state without plastics, and called for an ecological Ganesh Chaturthi using clay idols instead of plastering the Paris sculptures.
“Many spiritually inclined people have already switched to Ganeshas clay. We will all accept this change for our environment,” he said.
