A grand felicitation program was held in Bidar on Sunday (March 22, 2026) to honor Forest Minister Eshwar B. Khandre on his election as the 24th National President of the Akhil Bharat Veerashaiva Lingayat Mahasabha, with religious leaders, politicians and community members celebrating his leadership and contribution to society.
Held at the Karnataka Pharmacy College campus, the event attracted a large gathering of well-wishers, diviners and members of the public from across the region. Before the programme, Mr Khandre paid floral tributes to the statues of BR Ambedkar, Basavanna and Bommagondeshwara in the city and took part in a grand procession through Bidar which saw enthusiastic participation of youth and cultural ensembles.
Siddharoodh Mutt Seer Shivakumar Swamiji, speaking at the function, described Mr. Khandre as a leader shaped by his virtues, combining compassion, courage and dedication to public service. “He has earned respect for his qualities and dedication to the company,” he said.
Bidar Urban Development Authority Chairman Basavaraj Jabashetty urged the people to strengthen the hands of Mr. Khandre and termed its elevation as a matter of pride for the district.
Harkud Mutt seer Channaveera Shivacharya Swamiji said Mr. Khandre was a humble and courageous leader who won the affection of the people by his behavior and generosity. He wished him greater success in public life.
Former minister Rajashekar Patil said the post of national president carries significant responsibility and noted that Mr. Khandre had already served as a four-time MLA from Bhalki and twice as a minister. He expressed confidence that Mr. Khandre would strengthen the organization across the state.
Seer Basavalinga Pattaddevaru of Bhalki Hiremath described Mr Khandre as “a force rather than an individual”, highlighting his initiatives, including plans to build a large biological park in Bengaluru named after Basavanna and community welfare efforts such as student hostels.
Former MLA Ashok Kheny said the Mahasabha would emerge as a strong organization under Mr Khandre’s leadership.
Several other leaders and seers, including legislators Chandrakant Patil and Bhimarao Patil, also spoke on the occasion.
The program was attended by thousands of supporters from across the region and the venue was packed, reflecting Mr Khandre’s wide support within the community.
