After discussions with the government late into the night on Monday (February 2), the Kerala Government Medical College (KGMCTA) Medical Teachers’ Association decided to postpone its indefinite boycott of outpatient services as well as academic activities for a week.
After an emergency management meeting, KGMCTA said the government has promised to issue an order to rectify the anomalies in the entry cadre pay scales by Tuesday (February 3). The government has also asked for a week’s time to get a legal opinion to “seriously consider partial payment of the arrears”, the KGMCTA said.
In light of this development, after discussions with the Additional Chief Secretary (Health), Additional Chief Secretary (Finance) and Director of Medical Education, the association said it has decided to temporarily suspend their boycott for a week.
However, non-cooperation with the government, work-to-rule and doctors’ hunger strike will continue, the KGMCTA spokesperson said.
