Minister Andhra Pradesh N. Chandrababu Naida said on Saturday (April 26, 2025) that King George (KGH) hospital in Visakhapatnam would be developed at the Center of Excellency, on the Lines of Aiims in Delhi.
Mr. Naida, who spoke in the inauguration of the “centenary of the graduates’ building” Andhra Medical College (AMC). He ordered the medical department to prepare a comprehensive action plan to ensure that the hospital continues to benefit for another 100 years.

Mr. Naida said that the newly ceremonial building of the centenary, built at the price of 50 AMC graduates, meant an important milestone in the famous history of the university. He noted that AMC was the seventh oldest medical university in India, founded in 1923 during the British government and was the first medical university in the former united Andhra Pradesh. The university created a number of devotees, he said.
Naida, who praised the efforts of graduates, remembered that they initially acquired Crore 3 after receiving 1.4 acres of land. Over time, the contributions have risen to 50 GBP Crore and gradually helped to finish the most modern facility for students. He appreciated the determination and vision of graduates and called them inspiration.
He also announced that with another CROR 20 GBP, Biomedical research laboratories will soon be established in AMC to further strengthen research skills.
The main minister also acknowledged similar efforts by Guntur Medical College and others who contributed to the development of their alma mater.
Naida emphasized the importance of information technology in education and career development and encouraged students to accept digital tools and innovations.
Visag ready to grow
Mr. Naida also reiterated that Visakhapatnam was prepared for transformative growth in the next two to five years. Key infrastructure and industrial projects, including international airports, Metro Rail and the main investments from TCS, Cognisant and Google, have been set up to control, said, adding that combined regions of Anakapalli and Visakhapatnam could be very highest steel plants that could be driven by Visakhapatname.
Minister of Health Y. Satya Kumar noted that the state government gave the highest priority of the medical sector.
Alumni AMC and the authorized Minister of the Visakhapatnam Dola Sree Bala Veerajaneya Swamy called on the main minister to take steps to increase PG seats in AMC.
Director Andhra Medical College KVSM Sandhya Devi remembered the history of AMC and also thanked graduates as their contribution, which he called the 100th anniversary.
MP M. Sribharat, Minister of the Interior V. Anith, Mlas Ch. Vamsikrishna Srinivas and P. Vishnu Kumar Raju, a special main secretary, health, Mt Krishna Babu, collector Mn Harendhira Prasad and chairman of the AMC CAB Committee were present T. Ravi Raju.
