
The state government has issued an appointment process for APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU) and Digital University Keral (DUK) and issued notifications calling for applications from eligible candidates.
This step comes against the background of the recent Directive from the Supreme Court, appointed by the former Supreme Court judge Sudhansh Dhulia as chairman of the Search selection Committee, who was tasked with choosing the vice -chairman of both universities. The Court of Justice was entitled to establish either separate or common searches for each university for each university.
The Department of Higher Education is a node department in charge of inviting applications for the appointment process. The announcements require significant academics with at least 10 years of experience as a professor at the university or 10 years of experience in a renowned research or academic administrative organization together with proven academic management. Applicants should not reach 61 years on the date of notification (23 August).
Period of four years
The vice -chairman will serve in the amount of four years or until the age of 65, depending on what is before. The deadline for submitting applications is 19:00 September 19.
According to official sources, applications will be examined by the Ministry of Higher Education before the President of the Search selection Committee will be handed over.

The Supreme Court ordered the Committee recommendations to be submitted to the main minister for assessment. If the main minister considers a non -friendly candidate, he can provide feedback and support material that will be handed over to the Governor, who also serves as the Chancellor of the University. The main minister can also recommend candidates for a narrower selection in a specific order of preference for the vice -chairman’s role within two weeks.
The Chancellor is obliged to perform meetings in the same order as the main minister recommends. He will also be able to express reservations against empaneous names and/or notes of the main minister.
Approval in two weeks
The Chancellor was ordered to keep his consent within two weeks of receiving the ensemble from the main minister, except in cases where there was a difference in opinions. The Supreme Court will take the final decision in the event of disagreement.
The state government submitted five names to the Supreme Court for creating search committees, while the Chancellor provided a single set of eight names.
