
On Saturday, the State Cabinet nodded at the bill, which seeks permission to restore a race for cattle related to agriculture differently known as “Maramadi”, “Kaalapoot”, “Kannupoot” and “Poththtam”.
These events were prohibited in preventing the Act on Cruelty to Animals of 1960.
The Office of the Minister of Animal breeding J. Chinchurani said that the cabinet approved certain changes in the central act, because the matter falls into the concurrent list. The change would come into force in the State as soon as the bill is approved by the State Assembly and the President of the Murmo also gives her consent. Changes in the central act of the state, as permitted by Article 254 (2) of the Constitution, require the President’s approval.
Mrs. Chinchurani’s office said that the state government had taken a step after the requirements of various neighborhoods for the legislation of these events.
