
Minister of local government MB Rajesh said that Kerala will become the only state in India without a pile of waste in one year. On Saturday on Saturday, the renovated waste treatment plant in Adat Gram Panchayat started in the Malinyamukth campaign (free new Kerala).
Mla Xavier Chittilappilly chaired this event, noted that the initiative meant the main step in trying to scientific waste of the state.
The Minister said that Kerala has seen the number of material collection (MCFS) equipment (MCFS) in the last two years, with 1,020 out of 1,034 local state bodies now operate its own units. “If Harith Karma volunteers were not present, Kerala would become inappropriate to live,” he noted, credited them for collection of 1.52 lakh waste in 2024–25.

Although Haritha Karma faced criticism and campaigns against them, he said full support of the government, said Rajesh. He also emphasized the increased Onam incentives for volunteers and described the operation of the race step by step in detail.
The Minister announced that the 25 main waste yard in Kerala has already been cleaned and efforts to remove another 20 others are underway. Within three months, six plants will be operated to turn solid waste into fuel and within six months give four new kerala plants the ability to scientifically heal all sanitary waste.
The role of fines
He emphasized the role of fines imposed on the litter and urged the public to actively cooperate. The ADAT plant was developed in four phases with a total allocation of 94 Lakh, combining central, state and local funds. The equipment will collect home waste through Harith Karma hay, compost biodegradable waste and send plastics and recyclable substances to specialized units.
“This project will reduce environmental pollution, make our land cleaner and protect public health through scientific waste processing,” the minister said.
In office, uniforms were distributed to Harith Karma Members.
