
Hearings under the special intensive revision (SIR) of the electoral roll have been completed in Alappuzha, Thiruvananthapuram and Ernakulam districts, Chief Electoral Officer (Kerala) Rathan U. Kelkar said on Monday.
In all, hearing and verification was completed in 2.56 million cases in Alappuzha, 4.77 million cases in Thiruvananthapuram and 3.93 million cases in Ernakulam.
A little over 36.02 lakh people have been interviewed across the state so far. The number includes “unmapped” cases as well as cases of logical irregularities, election officials said.
A total of 28,158 voters were found ineligible at the hearing. This figure includes 3,522 deceased voters, 1,361 people who renounced their citizenship and 23,275 people who changed.
Election officials hope to complete the hearing and verification phase by February 12.
