Amid the debate on summoning voters for a special intensive review hearing, Chief Electoral Officer (Kerala) Rathan U. Kelkar also attended the hearing on Saturday. Mr. Kelkar’s name could not be “mapped” (linked) to the 2002 SIR roll which is used as the base roll for the current SIR exercise. The CEO attended a hearing before the Election Registration Officer at Kowdiar village office on Saturday in response to the notice issued to him. Mr. Kelkar said that he had produced the required documents at the hearing. According to election officials, there are a total of 19.32 lakh ‘unmapped’ voters in Kerala.
