Kerala recorded 78.27% polling in the assembly elections held on Thursday (April 9, 2026) from 11:56 PM after a short but intense period of electioneering in the state. According to the Election Commission of India (EC), 80.86% female, 75.01% male and 57.04% transgender voters cast their votes in Kerala.
Voters in Kerala now have to wait until May 4 for the polls to be counted and the results announced in 140 constituencies. Leaders of all three fronts — the ruling Communist Party of India (Marxist)-led Left Democratic Front, the Congress-led United Democratic Front and the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance — exuded confidence in the outcome.
