Kerala Responsible Tourism (RT), a mission society under the Ministry of Tourism, has appealed to women units registered with it to provide financial assistance for women-friendly tourism initiatives. Women’s units registered with the RT Mission Society are eligible for financial assistance for initiatives such as “Fresh Up Homes” and “Women RT Clubs”, in addition to business development and one-time financial assistance for women’s businesses.
About 50 units will get ₹25,000 (in two installments) for setting up Fresh Up Homes. In the first phase, these facilities can be set up in houses selected for village tour packages and linking existing family/farm/ethnic cuisine businesses. Home stay units that are classified by department and registered with the RT Mission and Experience Ethnic Cuisine units registered with the RT Mission are also eligible to apply for the program.
This project (two each) will be implemented in Kanthalloor, Marayoor, Vattavada, Maravanthuruthu, Chembu, Koodaranji, Kadalundi, Thrithala, Pattithara, Pinarayi, Ancharakkandi, Chekadi, Perumbalam, Valiyaparamba, Aymanam (Manjira and Munrothuru), Munrothuru. One each of the project will be implemented in Kannur Chal Beach, Muhamma, Thalayazham, Vechoor, Punnayoorkkulam, Anchuthengu, Amboori, Balaramapuram, Adikadalaya (Kannur), Thanneermukkam, Thiruvilwamala and Thirunelli.
Shops, restaurants
Women’s units can also apply for financial assistance under the business development category, which includes setting up souvenir/handicraft shops and ethnic restaurants. The maximum amount that can be allotted to a unit will be ₹50,000. The Women RT Club, formed as part of the state’s women-friendly tourism project, can also receive financial assistance to set up various businesses. Initially, five units will get up to ₹2,000. Each club should submit special projects.
One-time financial assistance of ₹ 10,000 each will be provided to women-led enterprises by selecting 10 women-owned units from each district.
