Kerala Postal Circle Launches ‘Assured Next Day Delivery’

Kerala Postal Circle has launched a ‘Guaranteed Next Day Delivery’ service connecting six municipal corporations in the state.

The service was launched here in celebration of World Post Day and National Post Week. Amitabh Singh, Chief Postmaster General (CPMG), Kerala Circle, started the service by sending letters addressed to the mayors of the six city corporations.

During the keynote address, Mr. Singh said that India Post has evolved beyond mere letter delivery to become a major financial and banking institution and an e-commerce logistics network. Keralam was the state handling the largest volume of parcels through India Post, he said.

Thiruvananthapuram Mayor VV Rajesh, who presided over the function, said that India Post is the only network with reach from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. He also emphasized the need for technology-driven modernization in the postal department.

No additional fees

Under this programme, ‘Speed Post’ parcels and documents booked at post offices in six municipal corporations of Kerala – Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Kochi, Thrissur, Kozhikode and Kannur – will be delivered on the next working day. The service will be provided at no additional charge. This was possible due to the extensive road transport network established by the department on the Thiruvananthapuram-Kannur route. This will help reduce transit delays while ensuring additional delivery through integrated delivery centers and post offices along the route.

Baijukumar BL, AD Mails CO, explained the details of the scheme.

A special postal envelope on “Safai Mitras – Guardians of Purity” was released by Mr. Singh, Postmaster General, Kerala Circle, by handing over to Mr. Rajesh. Sanitation workers of Thiruvananthapuram Corporation were felicitated at the function.

Kumari Shikha, the winner of the international letter writing competition, was awarded a cash prize of ₹ 10,000. Passbooks under the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana were also distributed at the function. The welcome address was delivered by NR Giri, Head of Postal Services (HQ), Kerala Circle.

Govada Navya Sri, Superintendent of Posts, Thiruvananthapuram North Division proposed the vote of thanks. Thiruvananthapuram Deputy Mayor Asha Nath GS, Health Standing Committee Chairman MR Gopan and Director of Postal Accounts Vaishnavi D were present.

The Postal Circle has released a special envelope in honor of Captain Smit Machchhar, who fended off an attack by his co-pilot in the cockpit of a flydubai aircraft. His father attended the event online.

A special cover on the theme “Honoring Capt. Smit Machchhar – A Tribute to Incomparable Courage and Selfless Service” was released by Mr. Singh by handing over to Mr. Rajesh.
