In a major crackdown on inter-state narcotics trafficking, the Kerala Special Anti-Narcotics Action Unit arrested a notorious drug dealer in Bengaluru and seized MDMA worth ₹1 crore.
The accused Dhiresh Kutum (27), a native of Assam, was allegedly caught in a raid near Mylasandra near Electronic City. The drugs were seized from a house in Ramesh Reddy Layout.
Investigators said the accused supplied MDMA disguised as food parcels and cereal packets, posing as food aggregator deliverymen.
The arrest follows a recent operation by the Kerala Police in Malappuram district where eight persons were arrested with 1 kg of MDMA a week ago.
During interrogation, the accused allegedly disclosed details of Dhiresh, identified as the alleged kingpin of the network.
Police said Dhiresh’s brother-in-law is a Nigerian national who allegedly facilitated the purchase and movement of MDMA to Assam.
From there, the drugs were routed through Dhiresh’s sister and distributed to Kerala and Karnataka.
In connection with the case, nine people have been arrested so far by the Kerala police and a total of 3 kg of MDMA has been seized. A case has been registered at the Malappuram police station in Kerala.
Further investigation is underway.
