Kerala municipalities have made a significant improvement in the Swachh Survekshan ranking for 2024 issued by the Ministry of Housing and the Union’s city affairs to include the cleanest cities in the country.
Up to eight municipalities have provided rows in the top 100 of the purest cities in the country. Last year, no municipalities from the state were on the list of the best 100.
At the top of the municipalities from the state was Kochi Corporation in the 50th place among all local authorities in the country. Kochi made a huge leap, due to its last year’s rank of 416 between cities and a total of 1,815.
Other municipalities from the best 100 are Mattannur (Rank 53), Thrissur Corporation (58), Kozhikode Corporation (70), Alappuzha Municipality (80), Guruvayur Municipalities (82), Thiruvananthapuram Corporation (89) and Kollam (93).
A total of 82 municipalities from the state reached 1,000 rows.
The municipality of Mattannur received a special national prize for the promising city of Swachh in the state. In 2023 at 53 at the national level he climbed from 1,854. In the first 23 municipalities in Kerala, the stellar evaluation received “without waste” -S with three receptions of 3-star ratings (Alappuzha, Shoranur, Pattambi) and 20 earning 1 star rating. Thiruvananthapuram Corporation achieved the certification of Water+ and 77 municipalities received the state of free defecation (ODF+). Kalpetta and the other two received ODF ++ certification.
The Minister of Local Municipalities MB Rajesh said in a statement in Delhi that prices reflect the big steps of Kerala in the management of waste through the Malinyamukham Nava campaign, which was intensively introduced by the state government after Brahmapuram fire in 2023.
Kerala became a model of purity at the national level. He expressed hope that national recognition would be inspired by all local bodies.
In addition to the LSGD and Mission Sakiitwa Mission Harith Keralla, Kudumbashree, Clean Kerala Company Limited, and Kerala solid waste also contributed to improving the state in the Swachhhh Survekshan ranking.
Mr. Rajesh, city chairman Mattannur N. Shajith, other main secretary of PUNEET KUMAR, special secretary of TV Anupama, Mission Director of UV Jose and Joint Director Muhammad Huwais, received the Mattannur Municipality Award from the Minister of Housing and Manohar Lal Khattar on Thursday.
