KPCC President Sunny Joseph says that Rahul Mamkootathil, who is currently under suspension, has been removed from the primary membership of the Congress party on the basis of serious allegations leveled against him and cases registered in connection with them.
He was barred after the Thiruvananthapuram district court rejected his anticipatory bail plea in a rape case registered by the Nemom police.

KPCC president Sunny Joseph said in a statement that the party has reviewed the allegations and decided that Mankootathil can no longer continue with the organization. He noted that the MLA has already been suspended.
The move came shortly after a local court rejected Mamkootathila’s anticipatory bail plea in a sexual assault case.
The Thiruvananthapuram Principal District and Sessions Court dismissed the plea after hearing arguments from both sides over two days.
