Outpatient services at Government Medical College Hospitals (MCHs) in Kerala are likely to be affected on Tuesday (October 28, 2025) as the Kerala Government Medical College Teachers Association (KGMCTA) called for a boycott of the services accusing the state government of not responding to their various demands.
The KGMCTA has been protesting since July 1 and has been raising demands, including carrying out pay revision, addressing anomalies in the entry cadre and appointing doctors commensurate with patient load. Currently, medical doctors are boycotting the OP service on a relay basis.
KGMCTA said in a press release on Sunday that even after the October 20 OP boycott, the government is not ready to address these issues or hold discussions. According to the protest plan, doctors working at medical faculties will not report to OP on October 28 and November 5, 13, 21 and 29. Medical students will also boycott theory classes.
Emergency services such as the emergency room, the delivery room and the intensive care unit (ICU) will operate without interruption on these days. KGMCTA said the organization regrets the inconvenience that patients may face these days. She urged the public to avoid visiting medical schools on these days, except in urgent cases.
The organization will go on an indefinite strike if the authorities do not meet the demands it has made, the report said.
