The Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) got 38.81% and the CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) got 33.45% of the votes polled in the two-phase local elections to 2025 in the state, according to data released by the State Election Commission (SEC). The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) won 14.71% of the votes, while other parties and Independents got 13.03% of the votes.
Dominating the battles across panchayats, municipalities and corporations, the UDF won 8,021 grama panchayat wards, 1,241 block panchayat wards, 196 panchayat wards, 1,458 municipal wards and 187 corporation wards. The LDF, which lost ground significantly this time, won 6,584 gram panchayat wards, 928 block panchayats, 148 district panchayats, 1,103 urban wards and 126 corporation wards. The NDA claimed 1,448 gram panchayat wards, 54 block panchayats, 1 district panchayat, 324 urban wards and 93 corporation wards.
Of the 2,86,05,525 voters in the SEC rolls, 74.25% or 2,12,39,135 votes cast their votes on December 9 and 11. The UDF took home 82,37,385 votes. These included 39.17% votes in panchayats (65,96,415 votes), 38.85% in municipalities (10,84,901) and 34.59% in corporations (5,56,069). LDF received 70,99,175 votes. The front secured 34.02% votes in panchayats (57,29,020), 29.88% in municipalities (8,34,427) and 33.67% in corporations (5,35,728).
The BJP-led NDA, which created headlines by emerging as the single largest front in the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation, bagged 31,21,335 votes across Kerala. In the panchayats, the NDA got 23,42,958 (13.92%) votes. The front won 4,02,233 (14.40%) votes in municipalities and 3,75,144 (23.58%) in six corporations.

In Thiruvananthapuram Corporation, while the NDA emerged as the single largest party, it actually received slightly less votes than the LDF. The NDA got 34.52% of the 4,78,672 votes, while the LDF got 34.65%. The UDF won 26.28% and the Independent 4.55%.
Other parties/independents got 12.89% votes in panchayats, 16.86% votes in municipalities and 7.80% votes in corporations.
Independents, which also include party-backed Independents, won in 1,067 grama panchayat wards, 32 block panchayat wards, none of the district panchayat wards, 291 municipal wards and 12 corporation wards.
