District Collector N. Devidas, who is also the District Election Officer, said that the procedures for submission of nomination papers must be completed as per the prescribed guidelines.
At a press meet held here on Friday (November 14, 2025), Mr. Devidas said that 2,722 polling stations would be set up for 1,505 constituencies in the district spread across 68 grama panchayats, four municipalities and Kollam Corporation. Nomination papers can be submitted to the Clerk or Assistant Clerk of the relevant local authority and a candidate can submit a maximum of three sets of forms. The management of the municipal district has introduced a system for solving doubts and complaints of the general public and candidates related to the elections. The Code of Conduct Monitoring Committee will meet every two days to review complaints received and take necessary follow-up action.
Complaints outside the district’s jurisdiction will be forwarded to the State Election Monitoring Committee.
Mr. Devidas said that full adherence to the green protocol is mandatory in all election activities. For this purpose, a special committee will function under the leadership of the District Coordinator of Mission Suchitwa. Enforcement of the Green Protocol rules will be ensured in each polling station. A special meeting will be convened to provide guidance on the matter to all political parties. He added that enforcement units will be formed at the grama panchayat, block and district levels. He also ordered that the representatives of the people (elected officials) should not participate in official programs. While chairing a meeting of the Code of Ethics Review Committee held in the House, he informed that two complaints had been received and follow-up action would be taken.
An assistance service has started operating at the Collectorate, which resolves doubts and complaints of the general public and candidates. The deputy secretary of the district panchayat is the nodal officer for the help desk. Complaints and queries can be raised through temporary phone numbers: 9497780415, 9744552240 and 0474-2794961.
