Kerala Railway Police and Railway Protection Force have launched a nationwide drive ‘Operation Rakshitha’ to increase the safety of train passengers. The initiative comes in the wake of a recent incident in which a young woman was assaulted and thrown from a moving train.
Up to 72 cases of various offenses are recorded in connection with special driving. The aim of the operation is to ensure the safety and security of all passengers, especially women.
The inspections were conducted under the supervision of Railway Superintendent of Police KS Shahansha. In recent days, special checks have been carried out on trains and at stations and their surroundings.
As part of the event, breath tests were conducted at various stations to identify passengers traveling under the influence of alcohol. There is also 24/7 CCTV monitoring and inspections involving bomb squads and K9 units.
