Kerala High Court won e-governance award
The Kerala High Court has won the Gold Award at the National e-Governance Awards, 2026, for its District Court Case Management System (DCMS), an innovative digital platform developed by its IT Directorate.
DCMS won the Gold Award in the category ‘Innovation using AI and other New Age Technologies for Citizen-Centric Service Delivery (State and State PSUs)’ out of 104 entries. The award is scheduled to be presented at the 29th National Conference on e-Governance to be held on July 1-2 in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The Kerala High Court is the only High Court in the country to deploy District Judiciary Case Management Software developed exclusively by its in-house technical team.
Instituted by the Ministry of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, the National e-Governance Awards are the Government of India’s highest recognition for outstanding achievements in e-governance, digital transformation and technology-enabled public service delivery.
DCMS is a comprehensive end-to-end digital platform implemented across District Judiciary in Kerala and Courts in Union Territory of Lakshadweep to transform judicial administration and develop a paperless judicial ecosystem. The platform manages the entire lifecycle of cases, from filing to disposition and beyond. Using the platform, the Kalpetta judicial district in Wayanad was declared the country’s first paperless judicial district by the Chief Justice of India on 3 January 2026. All courts in Kerala and the Union Territory of Lakshadweep are proposed to go paperless in phases.
The system makes extensive use of artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies to improve court processes and improve services to citizens. Its key features include AI-powered case pivoting, AI-assisted case summarization, intelligent chatbot services, advanced search and information retrieval mechanisms, a live court module that supports a paperless ecosystem, voice-to-text capabilities integrated into court workflows, and intelligent automation of a range of court processes.
